The 2026 Budapest Half Marathon delivered an impressive display of road racing in the Hungarian capital, with home athletes dominating both podiums. Vindics-Tóth Lili Anna produced the headline performance in the women’s race, while Karsai Gábor led the men’s field to victory.

Vindics-Tóth was in outstanding form, crossing the finish line in 1:09:20 to secure the women’s title and, importantly, improve her personal best. Her performance was comfortably clear of the chasing pack and underlined her strength over the 21.1-kilometre distance.

Behind her, Niesz Viktória claimed second place in 1:18:43, while Nagy Nóra completed the women’s podium in 1:19:35. The result gave Hungary a clean sweep of the top three positions in the women’s competition.

The men’s race also produced a Hungarian victory, with Karsai Gábor taking the title in 1:04:18. Karsai delivered the fastest performance of the men’s field and secured the win ahead of a competitive battle for the remaining podium places.

Italy’s Riccardo Mugnosso provided the international challenge at the front, finishing second in 1:05:20. He was followed by Hungary’s Vásárhelyi Máté Dávid, who completed the men’s podium in 1:07:27.

The women’s race was particularly notable for the margin between Vindics-Tóth and the rest of the podium. Her 1:09:20 personal best represented the defining performance of the women’s competition, while Niesz and Nagy battled for the remaining top-three positions.

In the men’s contest, Karsai’s winning time of 1:04:18 put him more than a minute clear of Mugnosso, while Vásárhelyi finished a further two minutes behind the Italian. The spread across the podium highlighted the different levels of the race as the athletes completed the demanding half-marathon distance.

Overall, the 2026 Budapest Half Marathon proved a successful outing for Hungarian distance running, with Hungarian athletes taking five of the six available podium places across the men’s and women’s races. Vindics-Tóth’s personal-best victory provided the standout individual achievement, while Karsai added another home triumph in the men’s competition.

With strong performances across both fields and a PB at the top of the women’s results, the Budapest Half Marathon once again provided a compelling stage for road-running talent, as athletes battled over 21.1 kilometres through Hungary’s capital.
